*Food Services reserves the right to inspect any packages, coats, bags, purses, etc. brought into the dining area. All inspections will be done in a reasonable manner (as determined by Food Services) and in compliance with all applicable College policies.

Retail types of items, such as candy bars, chips, or packaged snack items cannot be purchased as part of your meal component but can be purchased with the flex dollars or cash.

Flex dollars may be used to purchase items from our other dining units. When this fund runs low, flex dollars may be added at any time during the semester. Unused flex dollars will not be refunded at the end of each semester.

Board meals run Sunday through Saturday and will reset at 11 p.m. Saturday (14-, 10-, or 5-meal plans).

You may use one meal during each of the following meal periods:

Fall Semester 2008 meals begin with breakfast on August 17 and end with dinner on December 16. Spring Semester 2009 meals begin with breakfast on January 11 and end with dinner on May 12.

Board meals are not in effect during scheduled academic breaks. Flex dollars may be used during break periods and Welcome Weekend.

Board Plans may be fully refunded if a student does not officially register for classes and does not use the meal plan to purchase any items. After the start of the semester, any refund will be pro-rated. Suspended or terminated students will not receive a refund for that semester.

Declining Balance Plans

Students may set aside funds for purchasing food on campus using a declining balance system that automatically deducts the amount of each purchase from the student's account. The amount of purchase and balance remaining in the account is shown on the student's purchase receipt.

Balances at the end of each semester will be refunded if the Declining Balance account has more than $10.

Additional Information

Add-on Process

Students may add funds to a plan at any time during the semester. Add-ons will be more common for declining balance customers; however, Board plan customers may add on to their flex dollars. A minimum of $50 is required for a Declining Balance add-on, and $25 for a Flex Dollar add-on.

The additions may be made with a credit card online. Students also may stop by the Food Services Office to add funds to their plans.

ID Card

A valid Penn College ID card is required for use of your meal plan. A student's account information is stored on the magnetic stripe on the back of your card. Students present ID cards to the Food Services cashier, who swipe cards to transfer purchases to the students' meal plan account.

Each student is responsible to protect the security of his/her card. ID cards are nontransferable; students may not "lend out" their cards to others. Cards that are used by someone other than the cardholder will be confiscated; and disciplinary action may be taken.

Lost or stolen cards should be reported immediately to Food Services, (570) 327-4767.
