Opportunities
New Student Orientation Programs
Two-day summer orientation (Connections) designed to help new students and their parents prepare for the year ahead, and a weekend-long series (Welcome Weekend) of workshops and social activities for students only.
Challenging opportunities, including the chance to study abroad, for second-semester freshmen with high GPA and SAT/ACT scores.
Opportunity to study overseas (Germany, Australia, Italy, Mexico, Japan, or France) while earning credits toward a Penn College degree.
Job Location & Development Program (JLD)
Assistance for current students, regardless of financial status, who would like to secure off-campus employment.
Services
Career Counseling & Placement Services
Services that help students make wise career choices, prepare for professional lives, and acquire post-graduate employment.
Services cover a wide array of personal, academic, and mental health issues.
Advice on all academic decisions, including scheduling, nontraditional credit options, course selection, etc.
Services and advice for students with documented disabilities who desire full participation in College activities and programs.
First aid, health counseling, and other medical services offered by full- and part-time registered nurses.
Academic Support
Services include one-on-one academic and career guidance, professional and peer tutoring, cultural/social activities, and more. Eligibility based on academic and financial needs.
Free five-week summer program designed to prepare incoming freshmen for college success.
Free study-skills program open to all students. Topics include time management, textbook skills, memorization, test taking, learning styles, and critical thinking.
Online tutoring and writing services available 24/7.
Group sessions to help students enrolled in particularly challenging courses.
Tutoring as well as help with study and time-management skills. Low-income, first-generation college students are eligible, as are those with a physical or learning disability.
Free tutoring by both peer and professional tutors. English and math throughout the day, walk-in's welcome; other subjects by appointment.
More than just a large book and periodical collection, the Madigan Library offers reference assistance, study rooms, computers, wireless Internet access, online databases, assistive technology, inner-library loan, Bookmarks Cafe, and more.
